One roller acts as an impression cylinder, applying pressure during die-cutting; the other is the die-cutting cylinder. Roller dies come in two main categories: wooden and metal. The former is primarily used for die-cutting very thick corrugated cardboard, while the latter includes metal roller dies processed using chemical etching or electronic engraving methods, mainly used for die-cutting self-adhesive labels and trademarks. There is also a type of metal roller die mainly used for mid-to-high-end long-line products, employing either pressure cutting or shearing methods.

Flatbed Die-Cutting Machine
Flatbed die-cutting machines are currently the most widely used and common type, and also the model with the most manufacturers both domestically and internationally. Flatbed die-cutting machines can be used for various types of die-cutting, ranging from semi-automatic (manual paper feeding) die-cutting to fully automatic high-speed linkage die-cutting; they can die-cut corrugated cardboard, cardboard, self-adhesive labels, as well as rubber, sponge, and metal sheets.
